On September 15, Chinese Consul General in San Francisco Zhang Jianmin joined California Assemblymember Matt Haney, Liu Xiaomin, Exhibition Director of China Foreign Trade Centre Group, and representatives from the San Francisco city government, business associations, port authorities and other organizations at the Bay Area Council to promote the 140th Canton Fair. About 180 representatives from the U.S. business community, including JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo and CBRE, participated either in person or online.

In his remarks, Consul General Zhang noted that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the Canton Fair. The past 70 years of the Canton Fair have been a story of the Chinese people working hard in pursuit of a better life, and a journey of China working together with countries around the world to advance the well-being of humanity. He welcomed the U.S. business community to participate in the Canton Fair, to seize the opportunities presented by China’s development, deepen cooperation, and grow together.

Consul General Zhang pointed out that China-U.S. economic and trade ties are mutually beneficial in nature. The two sides should act on the important common understandings reached between the two presidents, enhance dialogue and communication, expand win-win cooperation, and bring about a constructive China-U.S. relationship of strategic stability.
