The International Chinese Language Day Celebration Held by Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco
2025-04-21 09:00

On April 19, the International Chinese Language Day celebration was held in Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco, which attracted over 240 teachers, students and friends from primary and secondary schools in the Bay Area.

Consul General Zhang Jianmin pointed out in the opening remarks that "Chinese Language Day" was established by the United Nations in 2010 to celebrate  cultural diversity. China has put forward the Global Civilization Initiative, advocating respect for the diversity of world civilizations, promoting the common values of all mankind, attaching importance to the inheritance and innovation of civilizations, and strengthening people-to-people exchanges and international cooperation. He encouraged more American youth to take part in President Xi Jinping's  "50,000 in 5 years" initiative, by learning Chinese and becoming friendship envoys.

Consul General Zhang Jianmin and his wife Zheng Xin presented congratulatory letters to the winner representatives of the first Northwest Chinese Essay Contest for Middle and High School Students. Four students spoke about "China in My Eyes", and performers from eight schools presented Kungfu(martial arts), Erhu, Guzheng, Fashion Show, etc.

All participants tasted traditional Chinese cuisine, visited the "Hello, China" tourism photo exhibition and Magic Chinese Language knowledge exhibition, and enjoyed interactive activities such as calligraphy, weaving Chinese knots, unlocking Luban Suo, etc.
