On May 23, the Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco hosted the 2026 "Chinese Bridge" Competition. Consul General Zhang Jianmin and his wife Zheng Xin, Counselor Xiang Mingcan attended the event. Thirteen students from universities, secondary and elementary schools, selected through multi-tiered competitions of school level and instate preliminaries, participated in the event. They were joined by over 80 family members and friends, as well as students and Chinese language teachers from more than 20 schools.

Consul General Zhang Jianmin briefed the audience on the recent summit between the presidents of China and the United States. He pointed out that the "Chinese Bridge" competition is a global stage for Chinese language learners to showcase their talents and pursue their dreams. Over the 25 years since the competition’s inception, contestants from our Consular district have consistently achieved outstanding results. He encouraged American youth to travel to China for exchange and study, and thereby become ambassadors of friendship between the two great nations.

First prize winners in the university, secondary school and elementary school groups will take part in the global grand final in China this year.
