On August 30, 2011, China Arms Control and Disarmament Association (CACDA) held a conference in Beijing celebrating its 10th anniversary. State Councilor Dai Bingguo and Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi attended the conference and made important speeches. About 180 delegates from the International Department of the Central Committee of CPC, the Foreign Affairs Office of the Ministry of National Defense and the General Armaments Department as well as experts, scholars and business representatives attended the event.
The CACDA was established in August 2001 in Beijing. It is a non-governmental organization specialized in the researches and external exchanges on arms control, disarmament and nonproliferation. Being a think-tank and a NGO, it enjoys the special consultative status identified by the United Nations Economic and Social Council. It is the most authoritative Chinese civil society organization in the field of arms control.

The CACDA has grown rapidly over the past decade. With more than 200 individual members and 32 group members, it serves as a platform for Chinese experts and scholars to communicate and collaborate on relevant researches. It also takes an active part in the discussions on international arms control, which well reflects the Chinese NGOs' active participation in and unique contributions to the international arms control process.
