On November 21, 2005, Vice Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met with President and Chief Executive of Canadian Council of Chief Executives Thomas d'Aquino and his delegation.

Yang made positive comments on the development of bilateral relations, indicating that during President Hu Jintao's visit to Canada, both sides established strategic partnership, which has pushed bilateral relations to a new level and also opened broad space for bilateral cooperation in economy, trade and other areas. It is hoped that the Canadian business community will seize the current favorable opportunity, give play to its own advantages, actively conduct cooperation with China and contribute to deepened bilateral strategic partnership.

D'Aquino noted that the Canadian business community warmly welcomes both sides to establish strategic partnership and holds that this offers precious opportunities for bilateral cooperation. Canada would like to work with China to further develop bilateral cooperation and realize mutual benefits.
