On September 27, 2005, the website of the Chinese Foreign Ministry was awarded China's Outstanding Government Portal 2005 during the "China's Outstanding Government Portal" selection event based upon public voting and expert evaluations. This is the second time that the website won this award since 2004 when it won this title for the first time.

Through 6 years' construction, the website has developed into the public information network system of the Foreign Ministry with 112 sub-websites of the Chinese diplomatic missions abroad. There are over 3.20 million visitors to the website daily on average. It offers introductions on China's independent foreign policy of peace and major diplomatic events to both domestic and overseas public in 24 languages, 262 columns and with nearly 800 million characters. It has become a window to demonstrate China's diplomacy in the new era and a bridge to promote friendly exchanges between the peoples of China and the world.
