On November 10 2004, Assistant Foreign Minister Shen Guofang met with the visiting Head of UNMISET, Mr Hasegawa.

Mr Hasegawa thanked the Chinese Government for supporting the UNMISET, briefed on the recent work of the Mission and noted that the sustained stability and development of East Timor still need the support and aid from the international society, the Chinese side included.

Assistant Foreign Minister Shen expressed that the Chinese side has always been dedicated to helping the people of East Timor to realize national stability and development and has actively taken part into the UN peace-keeping missions in East Timor. Together with the international society, the Chinese side stands ready to help East Timor to realize sustainable development in all areas.
