On March 29th, 2004, Assistant Foreign Minister Li Hui held talks with Katllani, visiting Advisor on Foreign Affairs to the Albanian President at the office building of Chinese foreign ministry. The two sides believed that China-Albania relations enjoyed a long history and were developing smoothly on the basis of such principles as mutual respect, equality and reciprocity as well as non-interference in each other's internal affairs. In recent years, mutual political trust and cooperation in various fields between the two countries have been continuously boosted and the two parties have been supporting each other in international affairs. Katllani reiterated the principled stance of the Albanian government on the one-China policy, saying that Albania's stance on the Taiwan question would never retrogress or change no matter how complex and sensitive the situation in Taiwan after the local election might be and believing that a reunified China would play an even greater role in the international arena.
The two sides also exchanged views on such issues as the eastward expansion of the European Union, the conflicts between Palestine and Israel as well as counter-terrorism.
