On August 18, 2022, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in San Francisco Zhang Jianmin met with Kate Brown, Governor of Oregon in Salem. Counselor Zhai Deyu and other officials attended the meeting.

Consul General Zhang congratulated Eugene, Oregon on successfully hosting the 2022 World Athletics Championships, and thanked Track Town USA for its welcome and hospitality to Chinese athletes. Consul General Zhang introduced the positive progress of cooperation and exchanges in various fields between China and Oregon in recent years and said that he looks forward to working with all sectors of the community in Oregon to push for more achievements in China-Oregon cooperation and better serve the common interests of the two peoples.

Governor Brown welcomed Consul General Zhang's visit and said Oregon attaches importance to cooperation with China in the fields of economy, trade, sports and education. She expressed hope that the two sides could further expand personnel exchanges after the pandemic and strengthen cooperation with each other on climate change.
