On August 3, Consul General Wang Donghua attended the opening ceremony of the 9th Chinatown Ping-Pong Tournament in San Francisco and delivered a speech. The ceremony drew nearly 100 participants including mayor London Breed, city government officials and citizens in Chinatown.

Consul General Wang said the "Ping-Pong Diplomacy" of the 1970s ended decades of separation between China and the United States, and the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries opened a new chapter in the history of China-US relations. History shows that cooperation serves the best interests of the Chinese and American people and is the only right choice for both sides. At present, a new round of "Ping-Pong Diplomacy" is urgently needed to inject new impetus into the healthy and steady development of china-us relations.

Consul General Wang thanked the government of San Francisco and Mayor London Breed for their efforts to promote friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and the city of San Francisco over the years.

Mayor London Breed said that Ping-Pong played an important role in promoting the development of China-US relations. She hoped that the sport would continue to be a bridge of friendship between the two peoples. She said San Francisco would, as always, make efforts to develop relations with China and promote exchanges and cooperation between the two peoples.
