Chinese Consulate General Open House on June 27

On June 27, 2019, Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco opened its doors to the members of International Schiller Institute. Chinese Consul General to San Francisco Wang Donghua delivered a speech introducing the development of China-US relations and the achievements of Belt and Road Initiative.The President of Schiller Institute San Francisco Branch Mr. Micheal Steger delivered a warm speech.

In his speech, Consul General Wang Donghua reviewed the development of China-US relations and pointed out that this year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and the United States. Over the last 40 years, despite ups and downs, the relationship between China and the US have made great progress, delivering tangible benefits to the people of our two countries .History has proved that cooperation benefits the two countries while conflicts hurt both.Cooperation is the only right choice. Economic and trade frictions have damaged the interests of the two countries, and the two sides should resolve them through consultation on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit.

Consul General Wang also introduced the achievements of the "Belt and Road Initiative" over the past five years, pointing out that the initiative is an open global public product, and all parties, including the United States are welcomed.

President Steger praised the great historical achievements made by China since the founding of the people's Republic of China, reviewed the history of friendly exchanges between the peoples of China and the United States, appreciated the achievements of the "Belt and Road Initiative", and wished both countries a better future and could make positive contributions to world peace and development.

The event also included music performance and free exchanges.
