Spokesperson's Remarks on Japan's Accelerated Pace to Revise Its Peace Constitution
2004-02-05 00:00

Q: What's your comment on Japan's accelerated pace to revise its peace constitution?

A: We have taken note of the series of recent movements in Japan concerning the revision of its constitution.

Japan has been going down the path of peaceful development in accordance with the spirit of post-war peace constitution and has made major achievements. It has created important conditions not only for friendly coexistence between Japan and its close Asian neighbours, but for the maintanence of regional peace and stability. This is the precious experience the Japanese people gather from the tragic history of war.

We hope that Japan can draw lessons from history and continue to take the road of peaceful development.
