On Sept.7, 2018, Chinese Consul General in San Francisco Wang Donghua hosted opening reception for the 5th Across the Pacific: China Arts Festival at the Consulate General.

Consul General Wang made remarks along with Executive Director of Merola Opera Program Jean Kellogg, Honorary Chairman of 2018 Golden Gate International Children's and Youth Choral Festival Conway Jones, Jr.. More than 230 guests including representatives from arts and culture circle in Northern California, organizers of the festival and media attended the reception.

Consul General Wang said in his remark, 2018 is a year of special significance. At present, China-US relations are at an important stage of development. The common interests of the two countries are far greater than differences. Cooperation is the only correct choice for the two countries. The festival will profoundly reflect the temperament of "four self-confidence" and openness in contemporary China in the form of art, so that the audiences of various ethnic groups in the West can perceive the unique charm, values and humanities of Chinese culture.
