On December 7, 2019, Consul General Wang Donghua attended the “Remembering Pearl Harbor and Saluting the Flying Tigers” Event at the Livermore Municipal Airport and delivered remarks. Chairman of the Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation Jeffrey Greene, Commanding General of the 91st Training Division of USAR Brigadier General Windsor Buzza, Mayor David Haubert of Dublin, Mayor John Marchand of Livermore, Mayor Lily May of Fremont, veterans of Flying Tigers and more than 100 local friends attended the event.

Consul General Wang Donghua delivered a speech

In his remarks, Consul General Wang said that during the Second World War, the common goal of defeating the Japanese invaders united China and the US together. 78 years ago, General Chennaul led the Flying Tigers to China from thousands of miles away to participate in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression inspite of all the difficulties and dangers. China and the US fought side by side, which played an important role in defeating the Japanese invaders and the World Anti-Fascist War. The Chinese people will never forget the history. Wang hoped that China and the US could carry forward the cooperative spirit demonstrated by the Flying Tigers, and work together to implement the important consensus of the two Heads of State to promote a healthy, steady China-U.S. Relationship. In this way, China and the US could make greater contributions to the peace and prosperity of the world.

Mayor David Haubert, Brigadier General Windsor Buzza and Chairman Jeffrey Greene reviewed the history of the Flying Tigers to help the Chinese people fight against Japanese aggression during the Second World War in their remarks. They thought that the cooperation between the US and China during the Second World War is a useful experience to the current US-China relations. The US and China will gain far more from coordination and cooperation than conflict and confrontation.

The “Remembering Pearl Harbor and Saluting the Flying Tigers” Event is hosted by the Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation and the City of Dublin, which aims to cherish the traditional friendship between China and the US and deepen the friendship between peoples of the two countries.
