On October 27, 2012, Consul General Gao Zhansheng was invited to attend the grand banquet celebrating the 10th anniversary of Chinatown News,the publication of Committee to Promote the Reunification of China-San Francisco Bay Area Chapter(CPRCSF). Deputy Consul General Yi Xianrong, as well as over 300 representatives from the San Francisco Bay Area Chinese communities was also present.

Consul General Gao spoke highly of the contributions of CPRCSF in safeguarding China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, promoting the peaceful development of cross-Straits relations and the reunification of China. He commended Chinatown News as a significant publicity platform of the patriotic overseas Chinese communities.

Consul General Gao remarked that, the peaceful development of cross-Straits relations had entered into the new phase of consolidating and deepening. Nonetheless,it would still be the main task of all the CPRCs to oppose and contain the separatist forces of "Taiwan independence". He expected CPRCSF and Chinatown News to work hard continually, and set a leading example for the overseas Chinese communities in the undertaking of promoting the reunification of China and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
